Fur all things Furry
CALLING ALL TESTERS!!
| Important update:bugs spotted so far, courtesy of Drake have been sometimes when you’re randomly fighting, you’re thrown back to the furryfighters home page, and if you then use the heal button it wont count in the fight. Let me know if you see these bugs too |
RIGHT! I’m officially announcing testing season on FurryFighters as open! most of the main core bits of the system are now finished. So i’ve put up 9 levels worth of game play – items, enemies, story, bosses. Your furry fighter profiles have been reset again, so you can all play from the beginning so you can see how the game progresses, and make sure you go through each bit so we know how you find each bit
What i need you all to do – is play through the game right through until you have beaten the necromancer boss. I’ve just done it and its taken me an hour, but with a bit of luck you could do it in less
– It took me just over 300 turns too, so i’ve set it so that when you start playing furry fighters you’ll all get given 500 turns to play the game with. When you’ve got through the game (killed the necromancer) pleaaaaase let me know what you thaught to it. This is the first release obviously, so i need to know if you think the enemies are too hard or too easy on specific levels, if you think it goes on for too long or too short between levels, if you think it gives too few or too many credits – if you think the bosses are too difficult (though remember, a lot on the bosses is based on luck!), how many turns you have left and how you think the game plays in general!
IMPORTANT NOTICE: artwork currently used as enemies is not my own and is used purely as an example image for the enemies represented. WE ARE LOOKING FOR ARTISTS WHO WILL DRAW THESE so let us know if you have a friend who is willing to help out draw them!!
Let me know how you get on either by posting in the forum or commenting on this post
– Hope you all have fun!!

Hi there
Just got to level 10 in about 340 odd turns (I was a bit too heavy handed with the healing at the start or it could have been around 300 easily). Things are looking promising indeed.
A few notes/questions/comments.
-=- Balance -=-
From my experience playing I found the events were a bit rough at the start with the trash mobs stats being either significantly greater or lesser than the characters. I found myself rather stumbling through the fights trying to work out statistically what mattered in fights and exactly how much the “roll” feature really impacted the battle. It was when I had a (I presume random?) event where I could choose to take weapon did the game start to become easier and I felt there was something more than just luck whilst clicking the attack. From about 4 to 6 was perfectly balanced, it was easier to identify who I should leg it from and who I could give some baseball bat love to. Also the mobs’ stats seemed to reflect similarly to mine. From 6 onwards after I had purchased some Armour and now was on the way to laying some real hurt down did the balance peel off to the other side and mobs statistics were significantly lower than mine with bonus’. I think by level 7 I was at a 90% win rate and may need to be tweaked just sightly to be harder . One thing I had noticed was that lower level encounters still happened at these levels (ie finding level 6 mobs at 7 and so on). With these critters giving me the same exp that equal level mobs do, it was a bit too easy.
I’d like to try and play the game through again this time without the baseball bat.. i think that could easily identify if the weapon is overpowered or the character stat difference to player -> mob needs slightly retweeking
A second suggestion to help with balance may be a second option to engage the enemy “Slum it” that will engage enemies lower level than you. People who are struggling to combat equivalent level mobs can kill easier mobs for 1/3rd (or half) exp but a increased rate of finding cash to in turn buy gear and be able to take on the critters they should be able to. The EXP loss will be determent as time between levels effectively increases.
People who are adequately geared to take on the equivalent level will continue to level as normal and can be served a challenge as they level.
-=- Noted bugs -=-
The only notable bug I have found was whilst using firefox. At times between events (whilst clicking attack or next) one is returned to the menu/event screen (where you can continue your adventure or heal for 10 energy). The previous battle results would not be displayed but the exp gain/health loss would take effect. This isn’t really an issue until you enter a boss fight.
Clicking scissors/paper/rock would randomly at times return you to the main screen.. giving you the option to heal or to continue your event.
If you continue your event you will be prompted to engage the boss and then continue the fight where you left off.
If you select heal the game deducts 10 energy points and act as if it has healed you. You will then be led to the event page again where you can continue the event. Continuing the event will continue the fight where you left off… at the same healthloss that you had pre-healing. Whilst it’s obvious that you don’t want folks cheating/refreshing and healing in the boss battles… it still takes 10 points away for trying. Not a problem with 500 of them, but when it becomes 1/10th of your Energy it could prove a problem.
Apologies if this seems nitpicking or anything.. I really enjoyed the game and the trash mobs proved amusing. Looking forward to seeing it evolve and progress

wow nice testing report
i’ll email you to check you want me to reset your game to the beginning so you can play through without the baseball bat – you’ve hit on the key bits i needed to check on through the game so far – the balance as well as general game play
as for the ideas – i like them and i’ll get them noted down to see if i can get them built in – funny thing is sometimes something that sounds simple can often code wise be incredibly complicated (like the events system!) — the giving you baseball bat or gloves is actually supposed to happen at that point, it’ll be clearer though when the story is written up fully – you start the game with 25 credits (enough for some bread and milk from the shop) then when you get back to your appartment you pick up the rest of your money from your appartment (50 credits) and have time to pick up one or the other item
as for the bug, yeah i actually noticed that during my sweep of testing, but i left it to see if others saw it. I think it may be an issue with my refer session id not being returned on a certain instance.. i’ll have a looky into that
and the heal stuff i’ll look into too – i noticed that but you’re right i need to get that resolved too
Thanks again for the testing, everything said was just what i needed – i’m a coder and tester for a living, this is something i’m doing at home, and no need to apologise – nitpicking is the key to good testing
– so thanks again! and looking forward to hearing from you by email
btw – i need to know how you set up your piccy, was it a BIG over sized one or a small thumbnail, and what fileformat, cos the site seemed to have problems and spat out some mental error before it displayed your piccy – i fixed it by saving your av to my computer and reuploading it and it worked fine – but would be good to know how you did it at first so i can see if i can fix it from the beginning
fankies again!! *offers shiny spoon and cookie*

I actually didn’t load up any display pic. From what I can gather has happened is that the site has pulled the pic up from my twitter account (as that’s the only place I use this particular pic)

Amendment to previous post. I only used 270 energy to get to level 10. probably used 50 at least on testing the heal in middle of boss fight bug. Probably only takes 220 or so to get to Lv10.

OH and 1 more thing.. sorry for spam!
At the account creation menu I selected dragon as species but when I went to fill my profile out I had noticed it went straight back to default. Changing it back and saved seemed to work fine after though
